The cure for misery.
Some degree of mental suffering, such as being down, unmotivated or anxious is normal in our lives. It is part of being human. But what if you keep finding yourself rather in a depressed state much too often? You may even have considered seeking external help?
Although there are cases when we do need to reach out to others, more often than not we can help ourselves get out of misery. We are taught to believe that negative feelings are bad and have to be rid off, but what if they communicate something important to you? The Jungian school of thought teaches us that depression and anxiety are messengers from the depth of our minds. They highlight that there is somewhere for you to be, beyond the place you are at now. It is calling for you to take purposeful action on your life - whether it is to start acting on your soul’s cravings, or pick up responsibilities that you have dropped.
According to this way of thinking, we suffer from depressive states too often when we are stuck at a stage in our life that has to end. The suffering is caused by the fact that your old ways and strategies are no longer helping you. Then depression or anxiety is a call for a change.
What kind of change are we talking about? It depends on your situation, but there are few guidelines that if you follow, you won’t miss your target by too much. In fact, it might be enough to return you to a more hopeful and stable state of mind.
First things first, you need to face your reality and pick up your responsibilities.
Clean your room. Notice how reality beckons you constantly with hundreds of possibilities for deepening relationships with life. Something needs your attention - tend to it. Stop wishing for more, get connected to what is in front of you and give it your all. Stop running away. This step alone might heal you.
Ground yourself.
Sometimes we are too caught up in our minds so we need some “low” time. In this case tending to your pets or caring for your plants help. Rejoice in care for them and watch them flourish under your attention.
Venture towards self-realization.
Pick something that sparks your curiosity and pursue it. This will force you out of your comfort zone and challenge you to develop self-discipline, which will transform and lead you to better understanding of yourself and your potential. Don’t think that you have to know your passion in order to start acting. Passion is something that develops in time after pursuing something for a while, not the other way round. Whatever you choose, be persistent in your pursuit of excellence and don’t worry if you don’t see yourself doing it your whole life.
Important note: Don’t think that before starting, you must stop feeling bad. The key here is to get into action even when you don’t feel like doing so. Purposeful action in itself is a cure to feelings of anxiety, depression or fear.
We hope this finds you at the right time, and we do urge you to not look away, because this has a good chance of changing your life for the better and ridding you of toxic states.
