Happy Chinese New Year!
The Year of the Rabbit is here.
According to Chinese myths, the Rabbit was the fourth animal to finish the zodiac race. The agile and nimble rabbit came behind the clever rat, the sturdy ox and the strong tiger.
In the great race, the rabbit was too weak to fight the currents of the raging river and had to cross it by jumping from stone to stone. It almost lost the race when it fell into the water. But it managed to grab onto a floating log that carried it to the shore, allowing it to come fourth after the tiger and before the dragon.
Interestingly, in the Vietnamese Zodiac calendar, the rabbit is replaced with the cat which was cheated out of the Chinese Zodiac by the Rat.
